As national unemployment levels climb toward historic levels, the healthcare sector is among the only major industries in the nation to show positive job growth during every month of the recession.  In the subcategory of hospitals, job growth slowed sharply in 2009, including a small but notable loss of 200 jobs from a workforce of 4.7 million in June, which becomes hospitals' only month of job losses since the start of the global recession.
