CMS Pays Incentives

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that more than 85,000 physicians and other professionals who reported data to Medicare under the 2008 Physician Quality Reporting Initiative received incentive payments totaling more than $92 million, well above the $36 million paid in 2007. The average incentive amount of individual professionals is more than $1000 and the largest payment is greater than $98,000.
